Most of us probably think of cruising the Nile as something from the film Death on the Nile. The state rooms are larger, the ships are air conditioned and the ships are now enormous. The food is fabulous and it is such a pleasure to sit on the top deck under an awning drinking in the passing scenes.

After Cairo, we boarded a river boat to cruise to Luxor and to Aswan. Along the way, the local people were very friendly. These fellows have a donkey hitched to an irrigation pump to draw water from the Nile. |
